ABOUT ABOUT

Rising country star, active pilot, aviation enthusiast and Kingsport native Austin Moody is returning to East Tennessee roots on Friday, February 12th for an early Valentine’s Day concert benefitting F.L.I.G.H.T (Flight Lesson Instructional Grants Helping Teens) foundation. The concert, being held at the Johnson City Country Club, will feature Moody and his band performing original tunes as well as classic country covers. Though a Kingsport native, Moody relocated to Nashville five years ago and has been honing his craft of songwriting and artistry while touring across the country. Moody is currently working with Grammy-award winning producer Keith Stegall (Alan Jackson, Zac Brown Band, George Jones, etc) and music industry heavyweight Mike Kraski.

Moody is passionate about supporting F.L.I.G.H.T Foundation and shares a personal connection with the foundation. Moody, an active pilot, was a participant with the F.L.I.G.H.T foundation and founder Retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Bill Powley in 2009. After training and flying with Lt. Col. Bill Powley, Moody flew a Cessna 152 solo in July 2009. He continued his training and received his private pilots certificate in 2010. In addition to the training Moody needed to fly, the foundation taught him invaluable discipline, leadership and motivational skills that he applies to every day life.

F.L.I.G.H.T (Flight Lesson Instructional Grants Helping Teens) Foundation (non-profit chartered foundation) was formed to provide funding to ensure the continuance of an already proven and established aerospace education program in Air Force Junior ROTC at Unicoi County High School. Since April 1992, 3023 flights with 8363 students/passengers for orientation flights have been made, most by retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Bill Powley, a former F-4, A-7, F-16 fighter pilot and Vietnam veteran, and all sponsored by grants/donations. With emphasis needed on math and science skills, character education, discipline, leadership, team building, and motivation, this program provides an excellent opportunity to accomplish all of these goals as well as provide the basis for future careers in aviation and service to our country in the Armed Forces. Bring your sweetheart and help students in the Tri-Cities area receive the funding they need to make their dreams come true!
